This tongue-in-cheek installation takes the popular 80’s song “Africa”, and puts it on perma-loop. The project is the brainchild of Namibian-native Max Siedentopf, with the idea that a solar powered MP3 player connected to speakers would keep the song running pretty much forever.
The idea is cute and clever, especially the white columns that hold the equipment, just as they would in an art gallery.
We’re definitely dubious that the audio gear will hold up to the strong winds and fierce sun of the Namib desert, but we got a chuckle out of the concept. And if you need a full reminder of the ear-worm quality of Toto’s 1982 hit, here it is again. H/T to our friend who is actually named Toto!
