There are few major automakers who have taken electric vehicles seriously, many of them creating ‘compliance cars’ that fill an environmental requirement versus creating something compelling that drivers want. That seems to be changing, in large part due to Tesla’s relentless push into the electric future. Automakers are getting the hint, and Ford’s just released Mustang Mach-E is a compelling new vehicle with a 300-mile range, and performance of that of a serious sports car.
Utilizing the Mustang name is a bold choice, sure to anger some die-hard petrol-heads, but it cements the company’s commitment to the brand, bringing it into the 21st century. The SUV form factor is also a departure for Mustang, but makes sense, considering the way Americans are ditching sedans for this body style.
And in terms of the Tesla rivalry, Elon Musk chimed in with congratulations, saying the more electric choices the better. Fully agree on the sentiment there.
Congratulations on the Mach E! Sustainable/electric cars are the future!! Excited to see this announcement from Ford, as it will encourage other carmakers to go electric too.
