Beautiful and haunting sculptural work by Kenya-born American artist Wangechi Mutu is part of a show called Wangechi Mutu: Intertwined, set to go on display March until June, 2023 at the New Museum in New York. It will comprise sculpture, but also drawing, painting, collage, film, and performance.
We love the artist’s sculpture work, and are excited to see it in person. The bronze work feels powerful and feminine, but also futuristic, with some of the piece like ‘In Two Canoe’ having an alien-like appearance.

“Wangechi Mutu: Intertwined” will trace connections between recent developments in the artist’s sculptural practice and her decades-long exploration of the legacies of colonialism, globalization, and African and diasporic cultural traditions.
