When you think of laying in a hammock, you probably think of a lazy weekend, and a sturdy hammock just inches from the grass below. Rarely do you think of dangling or hanging hundreds of feet up on a rock face. National Geographic has a great collection of ‘extreme hammocking ‘images from their Your Shot project, where users submit their own photos. The images run the gamut, from campers tethered on a hammock above a swamp, to seemingly impossible photos of rock climbers hanging out in their tiny hammock tents, perched on the edge of a giant cliff face. Click the images below to explore some of the amazing, daring, and just plain beautiful places people hang their hammocks.
