Bringing the electric funk:
Electric vehicles are on the cusp of a major breakthrough, both from a range perspective, and a market perspective. The Chevy Bolt was ranked Motor Trend’s Car of the Year, Tesla is poised to launch their affordable Model 3, and many other automakers are getting serious about the effort to electrify their fleets. The latest example of this is Honda’s new Urban EV Concept, which was revealed at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show.
The small and sprightly-looking hatchback looks like it was made for cruising city streets, with a tight, muscular stance, and a sporty sensibility. The two doors are rear-hinged, or “suicide style”, and the rear-view mirrors are replaced with slim cameras. The car’s interior is spare but striking, with an enormous, super-wide display spanning the entire dashboard, and two smaller displays showing the rear-view. The seats are almost like couches, modern bench seats with side bolsters.
The Honda Urban EV is coming to Europe in 2019, no word yet on whether North America will receive it. Via DesignBoom:
