A wall-sized masterpiece for an insect, these miniature paintings are painstakingly detailed and lovely, showing a great amount of patience. South African painter Lorraine Loots‘ series Postcards for Ants is a once-a-day collection of small moments, lovingly painted the size of a coin. Via Colossal:

Rocky Mountain NPCampgrounderAspenglen CampgroundThe quieter alternative to Moraine Park, Aspenglen sits at the Fall River entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park, screened by old-growth ponderosa and bisected by a clear mountain stream. It's at 8,230 feet, cool even in July and cold at night, and the elk move through regularly. The Ute Trail is steps from camp. Sunrise turns Longs Peak rose-gold from here, and the drive up Trail Ridge Road (the highest paved road in the US) starts minutes away. Book in the Timed Entry window.
