Sneaker design just got a lot more interesting.

The world of AI art is a mixed bag, with some gorgeous creations, and a lot of creepy, derivative ones.

Fashion and footwear benefits from the advent of artificial intelligence, however, bringing new patterns, materials, and textures into play with one another.

Take this series of shiny sneakers, prompted by Grant Franck, and generated by AI.

They have a futuristic use of iridescence and air pockets, while others introduce lighting and laces in new and innovative ways. We appreciate that with all of the fanciful details and futuristic lines, the shoes still seem highly wearable and comfortable, something we weren’t sure AI was capable of doing.

See more of this work on Franck’s website, and try out your own creations here.
