Canadian painter Laura Bifano paints landscapes in warm tones, but puts her own geometric spin on them, creating a look and feel all her own. Inspired by hiking her native Canada, but also by the geometric backgrounds from video games, we really like the style of her art, and the gem-like rock formations. Via IG:
Bifano trained as an illustrator and worked in video game and animation art before turning to painting full time, and you can see both in the work. The faceting comes from the low-polygon landscapes of early 3D games, while the color and light owe a debt to the Group of Seven, the Canadian painters who turned the northern wilderness into a national style a century ago. The mountains in these canvases are the Coast Mountains and Rockies of British Columbia and Alberta.
