A high-tech prequel to Jim Henson’s 1982 series The Dark Crystal airs on Netflix August 30. Called The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, the rebirth of the series takes the magic of the original, and pumps it up with 21st century wizbangery and digital effects.

Initial reaction has been quite positive, with most audiences praising the depth of emotion in the storytelling, as well as the technical wizardry and detail. We think Jim Henson would be thrilled and impressed with his vision being carried on for a whole new generation of audiences. In addition to digital effects, a huge effort went into authentic puppetry skills. All ten episodes air at the same time, so get your binge-watching preparations ready.
