Since 2009 the world’s tallest building has been in Dubai. The Burj Khalifa has stood as an icon for the region, and been featured in numerous movies and popular culture.
Now, Dubai is building the second tallest, less than two miles away from the Burj Khalifa. Called the Burj Azizi, the 131-story skyscraper will be 340 shorter than the tallest, but still be astronomically tall, reaching well over 2,300 feet into the air.
With over 130 floors, the enormous tower will feature luxury apartments and a range of amenities, like the world’s highest nightclub, highest restaurant, and a one-of-a-kind observation deck and an ‘adrenaline zone’, which we can only imagine includes some sort of height-defying stunts. With a slim, stepped-back design, it lacks the organic form of the Burj Khalifa, going for a more traditional form.
The building is already under construction, and plans to complete by 2028. Read more on CCN Style.

“Once [Burj Azizi] topped out, it will also exceed the world’s current second-tallest building, Malaysia’s 2,227-foot-tall Merdeka 118.
The tower is anticipated to set several records, including the world’s highest hotel lobby (on level 11), the world’s highest nightclub (on level 126) and the world’s highest observation deck (on level 130), according to Azizi Developments. The developer also said the building will clinch the record for Dubai’s highest restaurant (meaning its 122nd-floor venue will be higher than the Burj Khalifa’s 122nd-floor restaurant, At.mosphere) and the city’s highest hotel room, on the tower’s 118th floor.”
