Toon Joosen’s Charming Wordplay Collage

A weekly digest of the best things we found this week — design, art, culture, and the occasional weird and wonderful rabbit hole.

A wordplay collage by Belgian artist Toon Joosen — a square composition that layers illustrated letters and objects in combinations that make you look twice, turning language into a visual puzzle with the charm of a children’s book that adults want to keep studying

Dutch artist Toon Joosen knows how to have fun with words.

Using old-school books and photographs, he creates collages that transform a printed page into a playful scene of wordplay.

A lawnmower clears a path from a page, a group of gentlemen pluck words from a ‘field’, and more.

Clever and nostalgic, the collages feel original yet familiar all at once.
