When everyday objects are out of proportion, it catches our eye in a sublime kind of way.

Take this absurdist lamp from Mario Paroli for Seletti. It takes one of the most ubiquitous desk items, a Bic Cristal pen, and super-sizes it, bringing an immediate sense of humor and nostalgia to any space it’s hung in.

To celebrate Bic Cristal’s 75th anniversary, the designer blew the iconic shape up 12 times in size, so that it creates a statement piece as large as it is cheeky.

its the addition of a sleek linear lighting element, the lamp comes in three colors, and is currently sold out on Seletti’s website.

Considered the best selling pen of all time, the Bic Cristal has sold over 100 billion copies since it first debuted in France in 1950.

The humble Bic pen was even showcased in the MOMA, as you can see here.
