Big rigs with shiny chrome. Americana truck stops and hamburger joints.

These are some of the subject matter from artist Andrew Holmes, who captures these scenes in incredible, hyper-realistic style. His medium? Colored pencils.

The level of detail, accuracy, and thoroughness on the work is stunning, almost defying what’s possible with the humble pencil. His series ‘Gas Tank City’ comprises more than 100 drawings of this style, demonstrating an amazing commitment to the art and medium he’s chosen to take on.

The UK-born artist is prolific, and covers a range of styles and mediums, exploring well beyond American truck stops.  See more on his website.
