This ring surely looks the part, thanks to it’s 30 meter diameter form, made of rusted steel, jutting out of the earth at Flint Castle. George King Architects designed this epic monument on the banks of the Dee Estuary is Wales to represent the intimate relationship between the medieval monarchies of Europe and the castles they built. The form, just called Iron Ring, is also indicative of the unstable nature of the crown. The ring will be lit with LEDs for night strolls, and the outward edge of the walkable sculpture will provide a beautiful scenic view of the water beyond.
