A handful of us have always known that the UP is cool. Unspoiled, expansive, raw, Michigan’s Upper Peninsula has stood as an outpost, a place where only the brave dare to tread.

Well, a UP (Upper Peninsula) company, Stormy Kromer, has been making their iconic hat for 100 years, but recently, the hat has been gaining notoriety in the fashion and travel world. Today, I noticed that the cool kids at Uncrate have featured the hat.

I own one, purchased at Marquette’s Getz’s, a great old fashioned department store. Not that I want to see Hollywood celebs donning the wool cap, but it’s nice to see a classic Northern hat getting its due.
