This series of solo trees from Finnish photographer Mikko Lagerstedt shows the beauty of the northern climate. Mainly photographed at night, we see a sky bathed in stars, far from the light pollution of big cities.

Ranging from Lapland, way in the north, to Southern Finland, the series gives us a quiet, meditative feel, full of solitude. We’ve always found the world of trees to be astounding, with their range of diversity, not to mention the extreme places they grow and thrive.

In addition to the trees, we love the unique skies and framing of the trees, from brooding evening clouds to stunning auroras, to dramatic light silhouettes.
