For the last several years, Toronto has been the fastest growing city in all of North America. Indeed, the Canadian city has added more than 425,000 residents in the last two years alone.

That massive growth includes a huge number of new high rises and skyscrapers in the city. Among the more than 25 under construction, the Forma Towers are set to be some of the tallest in the city, and the most visually distinctive.

The 308-meter-tall western tower and its twin 262-meter-tall eastern tower are the work of famed architect Frank Gehry, and will be the tallest towers he’s ever designed. The massive project is also a bit of a homecoming for Gehry, who called the city home as a child.

With a surface characterized by offset blocks of stainless steel and glass, the towers cut a unique profile as they rise, and have a distinctive texture that Gehry’s work has become known for.

Forma will be home to luxury condominiums, as well as an extension for the Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD).

The interiors are partially designed by Paolo Ferrari, and feature soaring windows, Scandinavian aesthetics, and clean, inviting vibes.

The lobby spaces have designs based on influences from theย Group of Seven, a collection of well-known Canadian visual artists.

Fully under construction, the towers are set to complete in 2028, and are located on King Street West in downtown Toronto.

“Every city in the world has its own light and the light is modified by the buildings in the city,” said Gehry of the recent iteration of the design.

“I wanted this building to capture the essence of Toronto.”
