How Yaroslav Danylchenko Makes Food Feel Alive

Food photography is everywhere. But Ukrainian photographerย Yaroslav Danylchenkoย makes it fun again.

A piece of cheese with a glossy caramel glaze on top, reflecting off a black surface.

In his world, powdered sugar floats like snow, berries leap through the air, and cheese seems to pause mid-fall just for the camera.

Each image feels like you walked in at the exact right second.

A wedge of cheese with a smooth surface and a light orange color, adorned with a strand of red currants, resting on a reflective black surface.

Danylchenko directs food the way a great director guides an actor.

A smooth, golden dessert decoration resembling a stylized sail, with two vibrant red raspberries placed on it, against a black background.

Light, texture, and timing team up to turn everyday ingredients into tiny action scenes.

These are the photos that make you stop scrolling, because youโ€™re hungry, but also because the food looks like itโ€™s about to wink back at you.

We love the use of reflection, which gives the food objects an extra dimension.

Two blocks of cheese with visible bits of nuts or herbs, placed beside a green olive and some sprigs of rosemary, set against a black reflective surface.
