We’re intrigued by the explosion of new scooters, electric motorcycles and the like, which are taking advantage of better battery and EV motor technology.
Case in point: This unique electric scooter, which is a collaboration between BMW Motorrad and Vagabund Design Studio. It has a highly unique silhouette and form factor, and brings a chunky, modular aesthetic to the world of motorcycles and scooters.
The playful aspects of the design include a surfboard rack, integrated (and removable) speaker specifically designed by Teenage Engineering, and even an ‘electric exhaust’, that mimics a traditional exhaust pipe, but actually houses an umbrella.
That, combined with fun, contrasting pops of color, and a robust, heavy-duty build make this an e-scooter that most motorcycle enthusiasts would embrace.
Even some of the marketing images point to the playful nature of the scooter, dubbed the BMW CE 02 x VAGABUND. They feature the e-scooter in an oversized package that looks like it might hang on a shelf.

I like it, very well resolved, a great departure for BMW, and refreshing not to see the same overused ideas of vintage or classic (read existing) design with electric motors, but a real rethinking of the user, the design and functionality. This is accomplished while keeping the BMW brand very present, complimenti.
