This brilliant yet somber series by David Ambarzumjan shows various landscapes that are radically altered by large paint strokes, in which we see both the past and the present revealed. It’s a fascinating concept, executed solidly, giving us a window to a different time.
In the first, we see a virgin green landscape, radically altered in the paint stroke, revealing Manhattan. The series is called Landscapes in Time. Via My Modern Met:david-ambarzumjan-brushstroke-painting-1
“The brushstrokes showcase another moment in time, and they also double as the lightning rods for change.”

This proves that nothing is permanent except change.
Like said in Alice in Wonderland, you got to run as fast as you can, just to remain in one place. Thus is change.
The time machine remains a myth, at least for now

Amazing. So evocative. I can imagine myself slipping back and forth between the two time periods.
