Paris will kick off the Olympic games this summer, to great fanfare. The global sporting event should see exciting records broken, and new stories told.
One of the official artists commemorating the games is Ugo Gattoni, a French illustrator with a love for large, highly detailed illustrative work.
Spending more than 2,000 hours on these commissioned posters, Gattoni shows us the result of his work. A menagerie of venues and landmarks, interwoven with athletes, spectators, and more.

Celebrating both the Olympics and Paralympics in these posters, the highly detailed work invites viewers to lean forward and investigate the charming details held within.
Look closely, and you’ll see some of the newest summer Olympics events represented, including breaking, sport climbing, skateboarding and surfing.

‘When I was asked to design the Iconic Posters for Paris 2024, I immediately imagined a city-stadium open to the world, a suspended time in which you can wander through microcosms where Parisian monuments and sporting disciplines joyfully coexist,’ shares Ugo Gattoni. ‘For me, this design has to be timeless. It is based on the golden ratio and has a strong academic foundation with a lot of architecture. Its originality lies in its surreal and utopian aspect, both in its composition and in the thousands of details that feature in it.’
