One of the most memorable scenes in the whole Star Wars trilogy was on the forest moon of Endor, when Luke and Leia were speeding through the giant redwood forest.

The iconic speeders from Star Wars have remained science fiction, until now.
Polish inventor Tomasz Patan has created something called the Volonaut Airbike, a flying motorbike that looks strikingly like the one out of Star Wars.
Just now out of stealth mode, Volonaut’s Airbike is remarkable for its size, power, and maneuverability.

Able to carry one rider at speeds of up to 200 kph (124 mph), the small craft is unique because of its compact design, and lack of exposed propellers.
Below is a teaser video, as well as the original launch video, showcasing the Airbike’s smooth operation.
“This “superbike for the skies” is powered by jet propulsion and is designed to carry one person with speeds up to 200km/h or 124mph.
The Airbike’s proprietary stabilization system enhanced by a flight computer provides automatic hover and ease of control for its rider.
The unique riding position with unobstructed 360 degree view helps the rider to quickly become one with the flying machine and provides the sensation of complete freedom.”
-Volonaut

In the teaser video, we see the Volonaut Airbike hovering above the ground and streams in this mountainous terrain.

Tomasz Patan is the inventor, and he was a founder at Jetson, a company making EVTOL aircraft.
No word on when we might get to ride on something like the Airbike, but it certainly feels like the era of flying cars is coming to fruition.

Are they accepting applications for “paid clinical trial” participants? Asking for a friend! (โ โขโ โฟโ โขโ )
Needs a forward stabilizer–and lasers
Yawn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Say what you want. This is real and itโs happening.
Not a hoax, itโs a real machine not available for sale yet, but powered by a jet, and designed by one of the engineers responsible for designing eVTOL aircraft.
This is one piece of tech Iโve personally been waiting for. So dope. ๐ฅ๐ค๐พ
Odd, no footage of takeoff or landing. No view of a safety crew, support vehicles, or shadow of the filming vehicle (unless I missed it). It also seems quite small to have a jest engine, fuel, ductwork, flight controls and everything else necessary for a safe vehicle. There weren’t even any executives cheering on the pilot.
Respect to the engineering that went into the video ?
Maybe.
But. The rest is pure BS
Until I see media coverage
from a major news outlet.
It’s hoax to me.
This is 21st century attempt at being one with nature. It still has a long way to go but I’m willing to wait. The whisper jet of an electric motor, pulling up alongside a bird in flight. As the bird says, what are these guys up to now. Watching this had to be similar to experiencing the Wright Bros. We knew it was inevitable but inside we still said, this is cute but it will never catch on.
The inventor of this founded a successful eVTOL company. We highly doubt this would be all an elaborate hoax.
Hopefully they’ll release more specs soon!
Respect to the engineering that went into it…but this a terrible idea!!
I’d like to see more specs, even if preliminary/tentative. Pilot weight limit? Endurance & range at maximum weight? Endurance & range at typical weight? Altitude range assuming takeoff near sea level? Maximum operational altitude assuming takeoff from high elevation?
What I see there is Vertical proportion, where does the horizontal proportion come from.
I’m a skeptic. I don’t believe this is real. Remember the flying car hype
three years ago
Where “Teaser” footage was showing vehicles just swirling around sideways in the wind.
I thought that was BS then.
I think this device is BS now.
Why are there not any other people
in this footage
Looks more like the sentry bikes in Akira…
If I’m to believe this is real, and not an exercise in computer animation prowess, how short is the flight time before the battery runs out and you’re forced to land?
I see a lawsuit incoming. Stole this idea from a guy in Florida
I didnโt think Iโd live to see this amazing bike. I donโt know anyone who secretly wishes they could fly. Not science fiction anymore, WOW
Thatโs an insightful perspective! We can see it being disruptive. The noise levels havenโt been disclosed, but we imagine it is loud.
Poor birds. As if they don’t already have enough trouble due to humans.
Fun fun up in the air but not to high
