As a cyclist and someone in the market for a helmet, I find this exceedingly cool. But I’m okay with looking a bit like a space-age soldier. And that’s somewhat the aesthetic of Philippe Starck’s new collaboration project with Giro. Called the S+arckbike helmet, it features an aluminum and cork design, a very unconventional shape, and a visor, which could be great, if you’ve ever gotten a bug in the mouth while riding. Designed to be recycled at the end of its life, the helmet also strays from the hundreds of ugly plastic brain-protectors, which is A-okay with me. Prices not announced yet. Via FastCo Design:
