There’s something delightful about a purpose-made item. Something so bespoke and one-track that it borders on the pure ridiculous.
That would be the case with this Japanese Watermelon Tote, if it weren’t so lovely and endearing.

Handmade by craftsman Kadoi Yusuke, it’s another example of Japanese artisan work that borders on the obsessive to bring something lovely to life.
WATERMELON TOTE
Enjoy a sweet and delicious watermelon
under the clear blue summer sky.
If one could freely and easily carry a heavy,
round watermelon in a bag…
This is the thought that went through the mind of our craftsman, Mr. Kadoi, and inspired him to begin
working on a special leather bag designed to hold a watermelon.

And yes, one can assume you could carry a basketball or pumpkin in the bag as well, but it might go against all that is lovely and sacred.

Part of The Fun of Carrying line for Tsuchiya Kaban, we find it delightfully irreverent and memorable.
