Like something out of a fantasy movie, a Swedish woman in a misty field calls to her animals in a beautiful and ancient call, known asย Kulning.

Visiting cows in a field during the still-bright summer nights in Sweden, we hear the clinking of cow bells as ethereal, echoed song fills the air.

The ancient Swedish herding call, Kulning.

This call has been practiced for hundreds of years in Scandinavia, andย Jonna Jintonย of Sweden is bringing attention back to the art of kulning through her Youtube videos.

It’s a fantastic sounding history, and feels like a true zen-like moment.

In the middle of the bright summer-night I went out to call for the cows. I thought that maybe, something deep inside them, remember the sounds from the ancient times when people called for them over far distances.

My grandfather always called them by saying ” come boss, come boss “

Beautiful and somehow haunting. From a city guy I’d love to live in a rural environment that fosters oneness with animals and nature. Sick of urban life!!
