These night sky and aurora photographs capture moments most people never get to see clearly.
Stars stretch across the sky, and the aurora appears as soft bands and sudden bursts of light hanging above the landscape.

The images feel calm and rare, like being in the right place at exactly the right time.
Taken by photographer Jeremy Johnson, we see epic views over Oregon’s Crater Lake, Mount Baker, California’s ancient Bristlecone pines, and more.

Taking photos like this takes a lot of preparation and patience. Photographers often work in complete darkness, using long exposures and careful camera settings to collect as much light as possible.

When the aurora appears, it can change quickly, which means constantly adjusting the camera while trying not to miss the moment.

There is also a physical commitment behind these images. Long nights, cold temperatures, and repeated trips to remote locations are part of the process.

What you see in the final photograph is not just the sky, but the time and effort spent waiting for it to appear.
