Manzel Bowman is a visionary digital artist whose work reimagines African identity within cosmic and futuristic landscapes.

We love the way he positions traditional African motifs alongside high-tech and celestial imagery.

In his collage art, we see tribal attire, mystic symbolism, Egyptian iconography, and space-age aesthetics all combine into a thrilling body of work. The Afrofuturism aesthetic has seen a resurgence in recent years, an ever-growing diaspora of creativity.

The New York-based artist has an extensive library of imagery, all of it full of mind-expanding, fascinating visuals.

Much of his work can be found on Society6, where you can order prints, home goods, and other pieces with his work printed on it.

There’s a fascinating moment when viewing Brazilian artist Rafael Silveira’s work, where you can get lost in the multi-colored, gradient skies.

The classically styled portraits and still lives devolve into a psychedelic daydream of vibrancy and surrealism. Faces become empty space. Volcanoes erupt from 70’s style suits. And those colorful skies rain fuschia clouds.

Based in Curitiba, Brazil, Silveira’s work invites viewers into a bizarre world where reality intertwines with fantasy, challenging perceptions and evoking fascinating introspection.

For gallery settings, the frames of the paintings are as wild and evocative as the artwork itself, bringing the pieces alive.

Concert posters are an enviable medium for artists and graphic designers, allowing them to be highly expressive and individualistic, while also creating coveted, purchasable keepsakes from a great show.

We’re impressed by artist Travis Gillan, whose work has spanned a number of mediums, but is becoming a favorite for bigger named acts, ones that fit his vibrant and psychedelic aesthetic. The maximalist approach brings a level of density and visual interest that draws the viewer in.

His illustration work also has a painterly quality to it, with a great level of shading, shadow and detail that makes the characters pop.

See Gillan’s body of work on his website and Instagram.

Reflecting on his often psychedelic and surreal work, Gillan says:

“Inspiration for new work is usually a reflection of the thoughts that have been ruminating for the past few days. Typically my mind is fixated on the fact that anything exists at all and the inseparability of everything.”

The walls, the light fixtures, the furniture, and even the rugs all work together in this wildly colorful apartment in Edinburgh, coalescing into a kaleidoscope of graphic vibrancy.

Created by designer Sam Buckley, the space has Victorian underpinnings, but has been transformed into a coordinated visual experience that is both overwhelming and exciting, all at once.

Every detail seems to be touched, from sculptural elements on the ceiling to decorative door plates, to color block patterns on the walls and fireplace.

If anything, this would be an amazing apartment to spend on a grey and drizzly Scottish afternoon, letting the colors warm you up.

“The oversized wall graphics range in hues, including aqua blue, turquoise, hunter green, yellow, coral, maroon and pale pink. A green striped sofa, orange chair, coral table, and two-tone blue console round out the larger pieces of furniture, which are paired with a select grouping of statement objects.”

Fractals exist everywhere in nature, creating infinite, mind-bending patterns that are even stranger than a casual glance may show. Indeed, even their definition causes disagreements between scientists and researchers.

A fractal is a subset of a Euclidean space for which the Hausdorff dimension strictly exceeds the topological dimension.

Fractal is never-ending pattern.Fractals are infinitely complex patterns.

Mandelbrot described a fractal as:

“a rough or fragmented geometric shape that can be split into parts, each of which is (at least approximately) a reduced-size copy of the whole”

We love that these complex shapes can be found in nature, foods (romanesco, anyone?) and also deep within the brain, when on a psychedelic experience.

Regardless of how you define it, the scientific and visual nature of fractals make them fascinating to explore. And isn’t expanding the mind a good thing?

The surreal, psychedelic collages by artist Denis Sheckler give us a window into the weird and otherworldly.

Faces are replaced by planets and galaxies, eyes rain down waves and surfers, and an overall sense of trippiness takes over. See more on his Instagram, Pills for Skills. Via Fubiz:
