The very talented group at teamLab have a new interactive art exhibition in Hong Kong, in the lead up to this year’s Art Basel festival.
Creating enormous, illuminated ovoid, teamLab installed them all throughout Tamar Park, which extends down to the scenic waterfront.
The installation is called Resonating Life which Continues to Stand, and is a reflection on the human condition and human emotions, which take a beating, and continue to stand tall. The ovoid shapes can tip over, but always tip back up, resilient.
The interaction of the egg-shaped ovoids is clever – when one is moved by either human interaction or wind, they change color, triggering the nearby ovoids to also change. The result is an organic, flowing effect, one done with technology and light.
The beautifully interactive installation runs from March 25 to June 2, 2024.

“The biggest difference between an egg-shape and an ovoid is that the latter will always bounce back — it doesn’t fall.” In the vein of that explanation, Takashi Kudo, a member of teamLab and the Communications Director for this project explains that
“the ovoids are a metaphor for human emotions.” Whenever the ovoids are pushed down, they light up in color as they rise back up on their own. Likening the mechanics of human emotions, the exhibition conveys a positive outlook to being uplifted from a negative mood with optimism.
