This incredible photo of a newly discovered crater on Mars may give more color to the notion that Mars isn’t entirely the Red Planet.

NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter recently used its High-Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) to snap a beautifully crisp photo of the Martian surface. Taken from 158 miles above the surface, the crater is located in the Valles Marineris region. It shows how much material has been excavated by the impact of the crater, possibly showcasing subterranean ice below.
