Rhode Island-based artist Tim Andraka has a fascination with natural history, and also a clever way of interpreting the interplay between species. His ongoing series shows how one animal combines to become a totally separate one.

The funny and strange mashups have a certain wit to them, while also feeling charmingly dead-on for how some unusual animals have evolved.

Mole Pattern Baldness showcases how a hedgehog loses his quills to become a mole. In another, we see a sea star combine parts to become a turtle.
