If you like 70’s New York grit and grime, fugetaboutit!

This series of decidedly 70s cars parked under streetlights in 1970’s New York is a trip down nostalgia lane. Β It was an era of long flat cars, past the era of clever tail fins, and into a grimier, more depressive time, when many parts of Manhattan were downright shabby, far from the high rise glam of today. Taken between 1974 and 1976, Langdon ClayΒ has encapsulated the era pristinely, so to speak. Β Via Fubiz:

It’s amazing what fluorescent cord can do when it’s transformed into a volume, like this installation in Washington, D.C. Prismatic is the name of the display by Hou de Sousa, and it’s angular forms are beautifully vibrant.

We know it’d be even more impressive in person, let us know if you get a chance to check this out. Via Fubiz:

Our bucket list includes seeing scorching hot, liquid lava flowing from active vents in the earth’s crust. Luckily, Hawaii is relatively accessible, and has many places where you can witness liquid rock spewing into the ocean. Captured with an unusual sense of form and style byΒ Michael ShainblumΒ inΒ HawaiΚ»i Volcanoes National Park on the big island, the images show the great contrast in colors, shape, and temperatures. Taken from a boat, Shainblum’s vantage point give us a fascinating look at the way new landmasses are formed. Via Fubiz:

We love dogs. They are so pure in their emotion, and it’s especially hilarious and amusing to see their love of food, especially when it comes flying at them. German photographerΒ Christian VielerΒ has a great series of dogs attempting to catch treats in midair, captured just at the moment of tasty flight. Two pooches of the same breed sit side by side, both of them hoping to scoop the treat out of the air. Β The expressions captured range from shocked, enthralled, and in the case of Basset Hounds, less than impressed. It’s a lighthearted and hilarious collection to remind us not to take life too seriously. Via Fubiz:

Solids become sinewy liquids. Liquids turn to colorful gasses. This beautifully animated short film explores states of matter in smooth, sexy motion. Created by 3D artistΒ Peter Tomaszewicz, we don’t get a lot of context, but do have a nice peek at a creative exercise that pushes the imagination. Via Fubiz:

Architectural photography can be dry, too often going for the obvious angles, versus a new perspective. Luckily, there are artists like Marco Rama, whose eye for symmetry, layout, and perspective are as fresh and intriguing as they are visually compelling. Β His gallery of images takes you on a journey through fascinating built spaces, some feeling familiar, and others feeling entirely new and foreign. Rama’s talent is in finding angles that feel bright and inspiring. We recommend browsing through this series, to see if that sense of inspiration reaches you as well. On the heels of us going through the whole alphabet on Instagram, we came upon this great surrealist alphabet by Studio Graza that pushes the whole alphabet to the extreme. Β From fun, 3D pop art to photorealistic stone sculptures, to rustic letters made of sticks, their conceptual renderings are fantastic and creative. Viva la alphabet! Via Fubiz:

In a clean and bright photographic series byΒ Alain Delorme, he explores the bike couriers in Shanghai, and the extraordinary loads that many carry on their bicycles and carts. The huge payloads are comical in size and subject matter, but showcase a side of Shanghai that is increasingly rare these days, as China rapidly turns into a 21st century superpower. Β Strangely beautiful work, via Fubiz:
