Based in Czech Republic, artist and designerΒ Pavel NovΓ‘k has a great series of low-poly (low number of polygons) renderings that encapsulate entire scenes in neat little squares.

Lovingly rendered, the miniature worlds include scenes of campsites, beach loungers, a moon landing, Wild West town, and more.

Like entire worlds from a video game, it’s really fun to see these on their own. Via Behance:

8-bit graphics may be a thing of the past, but their low-def aesthetic remains alive in the art world, with low-poly design and artwork from people like Felipe Pantone. His latest series of ‘sculptures’ are mostly 2D in nature, but have the same simplistic forms and shapes as the earliest computer graphics.

It’s a look that at first seems wrong or out of focus, but that’s entirely the point, making the viewer re-interpret the former digital assets in a physical context. Learn more on DesignBoom:

What, pray tell, is low poly? Well, think of it as polygon renderings, on a loose and relaxed vacation. Low-poly refers to low-definition, simplistic forms. And artistΒ Gonzalo AusejoΒ from Qatar has a delicious collection of renderings that DesignBoom refers to as Neon Nectar. Strangely satisfying, no? Via DesignBoom and the artist’s Behance page.

South African artist Aldo Pulella has an intriguing and inviting little world he calls Mammoth Falls, rendered in low poly form. I’d like to take a visit to this mountainous and scenic spot. Via Behance:

From the artist:
Mammoth Falls was an experiment of Atmospheric Art Direction,Β I have been wanting to play with for quite some time.
Taking the idea of low poly and executing a placeΒ that brought back an old feeling, a place I once visited. Then takingΒ that feeling and creating a ficticious placeΒ of my own.
