Coffee Cup Made of Sand

Sand is one of the most abundant materials on earth, so it’s nice to see people creating products from it that are useful. Creative firm The Foundry has a set of coffee cups made from a material they call Ramel, that is moldable. Seen as more of an experimental product than a mainstream offering, we’re intrigued by the possibilities, and the evolution of the material. Inspired by every shifting dunes, The Foundry by Tinkah set out to develop a material that tames the characteristics of desert sand into a moldable medium. “Ramel” has the ability to shift shape into functional and aesthetic products that emerge from their environment rather than adopting their surrounding. As an homage to a global culture, The Foundry has designed and produced the humble coffee cup Using our new material Ramel.
