Monstera Deliciosa, otherwise known as the Swiss Cheese Plant, is a very popular houseplant. It grows well, it fits a modern aesthetic, and is pretty easy to care for.
What most of us weren’t aware of, however, is that the plant grows fruit that is supposedly wildly delicious, hence the scientific name. Some in tropical climates refer to it as fruit salad plant, for the flavor of the fruit, which apparently combines flavors of pineapple, banana, and strawberry. Indeed, people that try it for the first time are blown away by the flavor.
However, that rare and amazing fruit needs to be eaten carefully and only when ripe, as unripe fruit contains needle-like structures of calcium oxalate.
You need to wait until the hexagonal scales of the fruit peel off, revealing the tasty flesh underneath.

When grown as houseplants, the Monstera rarely grows fruit. But in tropical climates, they are commonly found.

I grew up in Miami and we had Monstera Delicioso growing next to the house. The fruit was wonderful! We cut it in slices, held it by the core, and ate from the sides of the round slices. I can taste it now! Yum!
Sounds yummy need to have these here in the states
