The bulb fields surrounding Lisse in the Netherlands bloom for only about eight weeks each year β€” typically late March through May β€” and the saturation of color during peak season genuinely defies belief. These photographs are not enhanced. The Dutch bulb industry produces roughly three billion tulip bulbs annually, and the fields create a landscape that looks less like agriculture and more like someone laid enormous bolts of fabric across the countryside. Few places on earth are this unapologetically colorful.

Twisted Sifter has a great look at the tulip fields of the Netherlands. Nearly unbelievable in color, these fields grow the majority of the tulips in the world.

The Netherlands is world-famous for their tulip fields. Every year from March to May the Dutch countryside transforms into a sea of colour. According toΒ Nat Geo, the first tulip was planted in Dutch soil in 1593, and it has become a national symbol ever since.

In the series below you will find incredible photographs taken byΒ Bruxelles5. The photographer snapped these from a small prop plane flown byΒ Claython PenderΒ (who has a great blog post on the journey they went on to get these shots).

All of the photos were taken in the former municipality ofΒ Anna PaulownaΒ in North Holland. As of January 1, 2012, Anna Paulowna along with three other municipalities were all merged into a new municipality calledΒ Hollands Kroon.

Director Γ‰milie Grange has a beautifully vibrant eye, and it’s on particular display in her work “Bucolic”, which pairs macro visions of flowers with colorful, flowing inks.

Set to a classic tune by Perry Como, Grange brings us a magical moment of color popping and exploding in some truly stunning 8K footage.

We caught up with Grange, who shared some of the inspiration behind her colorful work.

“In this very special period of Covid-19, I just wanted to make a video that feels good, that brings joy. What could be better for that than the simplicity and the beauty of the flowers mixed with the liveliness of the colors? ”

She reminds us:

“Walt Disney said ‘Live your life in color, it is the secret of happiness’, that’s why I chose the song “Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo“, the music of the classic movie Cinderella (interpreted in this version by Perry Como), which brings us back to a certain recklessness of childhood. “

These Secret Garden illustrations by Ranganath KrishnamaniΒ are dark and somewhat mysterious, and also showcase a love for plants and typography. Β The flowers obscure and intertwine with their titles, giving the designs a graphical interest. Β Represented in beautiful rich style are peace lilies, birds of paradise, plumeria, mango, aloe vera, and swarga, which is entirely new to us.

In hisΒ Broken FlowerΒ series photographerΒ Jon ShiremanΒ soaked various kinds of flowers in a liquid nitrogen bath for up to 30 minutes before using a special spring-loaded contraption to slam them against a surface at high speed. He then photographed the hundreds of fragments spread across a white surface like sharp glass shards. Beautiful work. See the rest over onFlickr. (viaΒ photojojo)
