We’ve always loved a good Rube Goldberg machine. A contraption so overly complex, it has no reason for being. Yet it’s charming in its goofy complexity, and a joy to watch.

Which is why this ad for phone case maker Casetify is so fun to watch. Created by Joseph Herscher of Joseph’s Machines, the 70-second spot shows an iPhone on snooze, going through all manner of punishment, from rocks being dropped on it, to hammers, sand, and acrobatics.

Entitled The Ultimate Snooze Machine 2.0, the video is worth a watch.

Interesting. It’s amazing that people still do these contraptions. Whimsical and fascinating at the same time.
