This was too fitting not to share. The Moss Hotel is a beautifully designed getaway in where else? Iceland. Located on Iceland’s famed geothermal Blue Lagoon, the rooms look out onto amazingly blue waters and mossy surroundings. Floor to ceiling windows, and a floating design give an amazing feel to this luxury hotel. With only five rooms, this special little gem books up very quickly, plan accordingly. Via Uncrate:

viking village

BetweenΒ HΓΆfn and DjΓΊpivogur in rural Iceland lies a Viking village. Well, a beautiful replica of a Viking village, that is. Built in 2010 for a film that never happened, the replica set is beautiful desolate and abandoned. Due to funding issues, the set was never used, though that might change in the next few years, as interest in Viking history grows. PhotographerΒ Jan Erik WaiderΒ has a beautifully stoic collection of images from the set, which looks as if it’s been there for hundreds of years. Iceland just never stops amazing us. Via Behance:

Iceland,Β oh Iceland. You’re so beautiful it hurts. We could post about your vast otherworldly landscapes for months, and not get tired of it. The contrasts, the forms, the rawness. Iceland is so full of picturesque vistas it boggles the mind.Β Lukas FurlanΒ has a gorgeous glimpse of Iceland, in 4k. Β Next, we need to get ourselves some plane tickets to visit this place in person.

Iceland is well known as having one of the most breathtaking collection of landscapes anywhere in the world. The raw nature of the island is astounding, with much of it being volcanically and geographically active. This drone video shows a bit of just how diverse and stunning the island nation is.

Tom Kondrat has some beautifully barren images from Iceland, taken during the coldest times of the year. Β His view takes on an almost haunting emptiness. Β Via FastCo Design:

Some gorgeous aerial photography of Iceland’s volcanic landscape. The colors and patterns flow together to seem almost otherworldly. Β Photographs byΒ Andre Ermolaev.

From the photographer:

Iceland is a wonderful country; I would even say that it is a true paradise for all the photo shooting-lovers. But what has become a real discovery for me is the bird’s eye view of the rivers flowing along the black volcanic sand. It is an inexpressible combination of colors, lines, and patterns. The photo represents the mouth of the river falling into the ocean. […] A little bit upstream there is a yellow-colored brook flowing into the river, but yellow currents fail to mix with the main water flow. One can estimate the scale judging by the car tracks that are clearly seen on the black sand. This is just a river, just a volcano, just our planet.
