Houseplants are more popular than ever, and it’s great to see so many people build their verdant collections.

Enter any modern day home and you’d be forgiven for thinking you’ve accidentally wandered into a greenhouse or botanical garden. Such is the houseplant boom, homes are being transformed into urban oases, with small, tall and sprawling houseplants at the forefront.

As well as being aesthetically pleasing, introducing houseplants to homes can improve air quality, overall wellbeing and productivity. Making them both pretty and practical.

But are some houseplants more popular than others?

The HouseFresh team set out to find out. By heading to the digital plant-life shrine of Instagram, they were able to discover a seed-list of the 230 most-instagrammed houseplants across the globe. They then gathered the monthly Google search volumes for each botanical name in each country, using Ahrefs Keyword Explorer.

With data in hand, the HouseFresh designers created a series of global and continental maps, displaying each country’s favourite houseplant in all of its glory.

Here’s a preview of the 3D rendered world map, featuring each country’s favourite houseplant:

There are entire tours in Europe dedicated to showcasing the crumbling relics of long-ruined castles. Many of them have nothing left but bits of their exterior walls, the towers and turrets long gone.

Now we can watch these castles come back to life, right in front of our eyes, thanks to some clever animation. NeoMam Studios has brought these castles back to their original glory, at least in animated form. Originally made for On Stride, we appreciate the creativity and glimpse into history.

We may all have our own ways to cut fruits, but there’s undoubtedly better ways to slice and dice some fruits than others. 🍉🍈🥭🍍🥥🥝

Some of them, like mangos, can be intimidating to people who didn’t grow up with them. This handy infographic, for Delish, made by NeoMam Studios, gives you a step-by-step to 7 tricky fruits. You’ll soon be cutting like a pro, and impressing friends and family.

We’re sadly entering a new age of animal extinction, this one part of the epoch called the Anthropocene, which is primarily caused by us – humans.

As we grapple with the huge issues of climate change and resource scarcity, we also are starting to lose animal species at an alarming rate.

Researched and designed by Braća Burazeri, Duck Knees, and NeoMam Studios, this beautiful illustrated collection shows which species is most endangered in each of the USA’s 50 states. It’s an exhaustive and also tragic list, with animals ranging from the smallest mouse, to the biggest whale. Each lovingly illustrated animal is accompanied by an informative blurb about their habitat, and their remaining numbers. Via Behance:

Some of the world’s most famous architectural structures have been revisited by a gothic sensibility, exploring how they would change. We see buildings and monuments evolve from sleek minimalism into more complex forms and shapes. It’s a strange and interesting notion, created by NeoMam Studios. Via Yanko Design:

In the same way that countries have flags, they also often have ‘national animals’, special creatures that stand as mascots for that country’s identity.  They range wildly, from the Gray Wolf to the Komodo Dragon to the Huemel, a type of Andean deer. Now they’ve been turned into clever illustrations, showcasing the actual paw print, and a bit of their country’s habitat. Created for Expedia, this series makes us want to hit the trail and find some of these paw prints. Click on the images below to see them large. Via NeoMam:

Ancient ruins are often seen as untouchable parts of our history, carefully walled off and treated with the utmost care. While this approach is commendable, what if those ruins were reinvisioned, and redesigned to become modern, livable places again? This thought experiment is what NeoMam Studios has undertaken. They’ve taken six ancient ruins from around the world, and animated their revival/reconstruction using modern architectural techniques. The result is fascinating. And while none of these revisions will ever see the light of day, it’s an interesting idea, pondering the way we deal with architectural ruins from ages past. Via DesignBoom:

In a project for Expedia, NeoMam has a series that visually recreates ancient ruins before your eyes, thanks to animated GIFs. The sites include the Parthenon, the Pyramid of the Sun, the Temple of Luxor, and many others.  It’s very neat to see some of these famous sites in their former glory, if only for a few seconds.
