Camille Walala’s Memphis Style Mural in Brooklyn

The Memphis Group was an Italian design collective founded by Ettore Sottsass, creating postmodern furniture and art in a distinctive colorful, patterned, pop-art style. The design style has ebbed and flowed over the last few decades, but has shown itself in some unusual places recently, including the entire facade of this seven-story historical building in Brooklyn, New York. Painter Camille Walala is the woman behind this bold and lighthearted affair, which brings a pop-art explosion of color and form to an old brick building. The blocky form and faux-depth make for an eye-catching design, turning the traditional exterior into something extraordinary. Via DesignBoom:
