France is known for it’s fields of Lavender, but photographer Albert Dros wants to share the Netherland’s own purple fields. Warm, inviting fields of heather bloom in this Dutch country in the late summer months, bringing a purple hue to the landscape.

Better known for its fields of tulips, the Netherland’s fertile soil makes the heather grow in great quantities. Dros’ series A Purple Dream captures the dreamlike, misty mornings, and the lightly rolling hills of rural Netherlands.

When photographers think of my country they think of windmills, Amsterdam, and tulips. These are generally the most photographed subjects in the Netherlands. What they don’t know is that my country turns purple in August.
It usually starts mid or early Augusts and lasts until the end of the month, and it turns a lot of areas completely purple. What am I talking about? The heather plants. Compare it to the France’s Lavender fields that start a couple of weeks earlier in July. The purple heather fields in the Netherlands are a dream for any landscape photographer. Combine them with mist and you’ve got yourself a dreamscape that looks like it popped straight out of a fairytale.

A forest in autumn can be pure magic, with tree raining down colored leaves, and the forest floor being carpeted with a rainbow of fall hues.

Photographer Albert Dros gives us a beautiful look at a peaceful forest in Luxembourg, made even more special with a soft fog that envelops the trees and gives everything a dreamlike quality.  Indeed, Dros likes to photograph in fog, which makes capturing shadow and form easier.

And this series captures two of our favorite elements so well together: Bright, vibrant green moss, and soft gray fog.

The Netherlands has a lot going for it, including some of the most idyllic, fairytale-like little towns and villages. Even the biggest Dutch city Amsterdam has an aesthetic quality that is second to none. Dutch photographer Albert Dros shows us the tiny town of the Zaanse Schans, which is just twenty minutes outside Amsterdam. Captured during a quiet sunny morning, Dros shows us the ideal little town bathed in fog and early morning light. Small windmills, little bakeries, and the quintessential Dutch architecture indeed make this a place that feels out of a fairytale. Via Behance:

Amsterdam is one of our favorite cities on the planet. Dense, ancient, beautiful, and packed with culture, it’s a great calling card for The Netherlands, a place that we’ve come to love.

Native Amsterdammer Albert Dros has created a real love note to the city with his latest time-lapse, a stunning and vibrant film showing how alive and bustling the city of 870,000 residents is. Shot before the global pandemic put things into lockdown, it’s remarkable how many forms of traffic there are, from the famous leagues of cyclists, to the sheer number of canal boats.

Take a look at ‘Amsterdam – My Home’, and try not to get excited about travel again.

With this timelapse film I wanted to create something unique. I wanted to create a visual experience with beauty, flow and emotion. I want locals to be proud of their city when they watch this film, and tourists wanting to visit (even more). I put this all in a film packed with little details. There’s a big ‘fun facts’ list that can all be read on a dedicated page I created.

We’ve been admirers of Dutch photographer Albert Dros for years, and the way he captures landscapes so purely.

His native Netherlands is world famous for tulips, and he had the rare chance to visit Keukenhof, the most famous and most beautiful garden in the country on his own.

Closed for the first time in 71 years due to the Coronavirus outbreak, Dros was able to see the garden without droves of visitors that usually flock to see the flowers.

His photos show us just how expansive and perfectly maintained the gardens are, with millions of brilliantly colorful flowers gracing the paths. And while it’s a shame that the gardens are closed to the public, the gardens look particularly beautiful in their solitary splendor. Via Kate S.

The Central Asian country of Kyrgyzstan is little known in the west. Tucked between Kyrgyzstan and China, it’s a small country with over 2,000 years of history, through various cultures and empires. The country’s relative obscurity and geographic location make it far off the well-traveled tourist path. But a visit to the mountainous landscape reveals a lot of untouched, pristine natural beauty and stunning vistas. Dutch photographer Albert Dros has a great series exploring this country, with a diverse and impressive range of images. From star-lit skies to silhouetted mountain scapes, we’re both intrigued and impressed by the natural beauty of the Kyrgyz countryside.

Greenland is melting. The enormous island has been almost entirely covered in ice for millennia, but has started an alarmingly fast melt in the last decade. Human-caused climate change is rapidly changing and shrinking the ice caps, as documented by teams of scientists, as well as ample satellite imagery.

Photographer Albert Dros has a stunning collection of photography of Greenland, showcasing the melting and rapidly disappearing glaciers. With two distinctive red-sailed sailboats, Dros and his team explored the beauty of this fragile place, reflecting on its recent popularity with cruise ship tourists, all of which will further speed up the melting. Both beautiful and tragic, we’re lucky to have professionals like Albert Dros to share these moments with us. Via Bored Panda:
